Meet Shivam, Calibration Lead at LotusWorks

Apr 20, 2022

“If it is not calibrated correctly then it could impact on patient safety”

LotusWorker and Calibration Lead, Shivam, works as part of the LotusWorks team within a manufacturing facility for a global pharmaceutical client in Dundalk Co. Louth. Shivam began his LotusWorks journey just over a year ago as a Calibration Technician on the same client site in Dundalk. Having studied Engineering in Instrumentation and Control for 4 years followed by completing an MBA in Production and Material Management, Shivam immersed himself in the pharmaceutical industry in India gaining experience working with Orchid Pharma, Pfizer & Glenmark Pharma before joining the LotusWorks team in 2021.

“Before moving to Ireland, I researched companies in Europe on the internet and came across LotusWorks. What really stood out to me was all the awards the company received over the years. As the only Indian person on the team, I found the adjustment to a new culture easier than I expected and LotusWorks made the process easier with a good training programme and supportive team.”

When Shivam first joined the LotusWorks Team as Calibration Technician in 2021, he was responsible for calibrations assigned to him such as site vessels, buffer holds, chillers and ventilation units. Now as Calibration Lead, Shivam deals with all the stakeholders of various departments on-site, including Manufacturing, Utility, Quality Assurance, Quality Compliance & Projects, to ensure that all calibrations are completed on schedule. Shivam is also responsible for procurement of calibration standards or material required for calibrations, collaborating with vendors on-site, ensuring calibration documents are kept up to date, assigning calibrations to his team and planning ahead to avoid project delays adhering to budget.

Asked what he enjoys most about his current role, Shivam said: “I find my job really interesting. It is not just about carrying out as many calibrations as possible it is about ensuring that these calibrations are carried out correctly and on time. If the incorrect calibration is carried out on an instrument it can affect the quality of the product which can impact directly on patient safety. I look forward to the next couple of months working on this project as the facility moves into the production stage.”
Commenting on what he loves to do in his spare time Shivam said ‘outside of work I like to spend time with my family, some travelling and exercise’.
