Virtual Fundraising for Make A Wish

Feb 02, 2021

Giving back is a huge part of the culture in LotusWorks and even in a year of uncertainty, 2020 was no different for the LotusWorks teams when it came to giving back to the community. The Make A Wish foundation was LotusWorks’ global charity partner for 2020 and despite many restrictions and lockdowns, employees came together virtually throughout the year to show their support and raise funds for the foundation.

The year 2020 changed quickly for everyone and when it came to CSR and giving back to the communities LotusWorks had to be flexible and quick thinking to make sure that teams felt a sense of comradery and engagement through the virtual activities for Make A Wish.

“We are committed to playing our part when it comes to giving back. In a year that was new territory to everyone, CSR was not forgotten. Employees were committed to giving back to  worthy causes and showing continuous support for those less fortunate. It was heartening to see the engagement across all of our teams in Europe and North America.” Emer Conroy, Director said.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation was founded in the USA and has chapters across the US, Ireland and the rest of the world. The  charity works to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions, to bring hope, strength and happiness. In 40 years, Make-A-Wish has granted more than 500,000 wishes.

A combined total of €7,000 was raised for the Make A Wish Foundation and was split between three chapters in Ireland and North America.  Initiatives including virtual steps challenges, bumper raffles and fitness incentives reinforced the feeling of connection within the company even while many teams were working apart.

Commenting on the funds raised by LotusWorks, Make A Wish Ireland representative Alicia Finan said:
“On behalf of our wish families, we would like to thank LotusWorks teams for your amazing donation. Your support will go towards creating a magical moment in the lives of sick children.

Make-A-Wish Ireland has one simple aim – to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions, to bring hope, strength and happiness.

A wish granted is true magic for the child, providing respite from their normal routines of hospitals, doctors and treatment. Make-A-Wish does not receive any government funding and relies overwhelmingly on the kindness of the Irish public to continue granting wishes to seriously ill children.

Thank you again from all the team at Make-A-Wish and from our Wish families.”
